Just me and a great bunch of dogs
Last year I shifted the format of my annual Christmas letter to a webpage to make it easier to view no matter what device you're using -- phone, tablet or laptop. (Your feedback tells me this makes it a lot easier to read. Thanks!)
This Christmas letter gives me a chance to be a Dog-Mom and share with you pictures of my own dogs and the life that goes on around here -- but ending, as usual, on a very positive note with hope and much food for thought.
Christmas morning! My guys and I wish for you a wonderful day!
Every day here starts out quietly, but it won't be long before the house is filled with snuffles and grunts and toenails clickity-clacking on the wood floors as the group gets into another day of play...
The big news this year is that I adopted another dog in August -- Jaimie. He's a wonderful little one-year old Terrier-mix. It's a long story how he ended up here -- suffice to say I'm super lucky!!!...
Leo is now 11. He still only has two "poses" I can catch him in on camera: "I LOVE MY BALL!" and "I'M READY!!"...
Kevin is almost 5 already! He's still playful, energetic, and Mr. Photogenic -- always a ham for the camera...
Jaimie is a classic youngster, full of energy, but also with an inherent good heart -- he's eager to make new friends...
And he's BIG into leaping and playing...
I see a lot of flashy leaping styles...
All year long...
Bros racing in tandem...
And Bros keeping watch on the action......
Having a set of three again is perfect...
Already they act like long-time family dogs...
This winter has been exhilarating...
My guys know how to enjoy the snow...
I love watching dogs be dogs outdoors...
...and indoors...
Jaimie has become a true family member...
I like what I see...
Merry Christmas Everybody!!...
Each year I like to wind up this letter on a very positive note looking forward -- my tradition. The choices we make today determine how our tomorrows come to be.
By now you all know I am very fond of Pearls-of-Wisdom. I think about them daily, repeat them often, and they become my words to live by.
Ralph Waldo Emerson provided the most powerful quote of all for me:
"You become what you think about all day long."
Experience tells me this is oh-so-true. I'm grateful for everything that's happened in my past -- both the good and bad have shaped me into the person I am today. I'm pretty happy with that. I have meaningful work I absolutely love and I'm surrounded by affection and joy on a daily basis. I wake up every morning, gaze out my windows and think I am SO lucky to have ended up ensconced in the wooded world that surrounds me. Paradise.
Even so, there are more things I want to do in my life, new goals I want to reach. Some seem daunting, but I always remind myself that as long as I keep taking little steps in the right direction I can get anywhere I want to go.
It's worth repeating another amazingly powerful quote from Henry Ford (or the Buddha, depending on how you lean).
"Whether you think you can or think you can't -- you're right."
Truer words were never spoken.
As 2026 approaches, I want to put my energy towards goals that will help me and those around me to live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives. If there's one concept that really needs to go viral in this world it is this:
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
I'll finish this today with my absolutely ALL TIME FAVORITE words-to-live by. This one has turned into my annual closer -- the words of Maya Angelou...
"I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
